Riley County Warrantless Information Collection Program

Challenges warrantless collection of information on bar employees under the Fourth Amendment and COVID-19 Contact Tracing Privacy Act.

In Riley County, a local health officer compelled restaurants and bars to screen each employee prior to each shift. This included asking about symptoms, travel, contact, and checking temperatures. The records and other attendance records were required to be turned over to the Riley County Health Department upon request. This was similar to our Linn County case.
